For the last ten years, the Family Sentencing Alternative Program (FSAP) has helped Oregon communities be safe, healthy, and strong. The approach:
- Keeps families together.
- Reduces time kids spend in foster care.
- Prevents future crime and recidivism.
- Supports caregivers to be accountable, providing services, including treatment and housing.
Without legislative action, FSAP will end, and families will risk being separated.
HB 2555 will:
- Allow more caregivers and families to qualify for services, such as housing and treatment.
- Expand who can be considered a caregiver to more accurately reflect Oregon’s diverse families.
- Connect families to culturally specific services.
