Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote is trying to block The Safety and Savings Act, and we need your help.
The Safety and Savings Act was a major victory for reform in Oregon. In passing the law, we prevented the opening of a second women’s prison, increased funding for victim services, and strengthened programs that address the root causes of crime.
This was a step in the right direction for public safety in Oregon but Clackamas County DA John Foote is trying to roll back our progress.
As one of the most vocal opponents to smart criminal justice reform, Mr. Foote has filed a lawsuit trying to block The Safety and Savings Act.
Clackamas County Circuit Court held a hearing today. We were in the room, ensuring that our community’s voice was represented and defending the vital programs and services that make Oregon safer and stronger.
Friend, we need your help to hold the line. Defend safety and justice by taking two actions today:
Email the lawmakers who supported The Safety and Savings Act, and let them know how grateful you are for their commitment to keeping families together, ensuring more services for crime survivors, and responding to addiction with treatment rather than more prisons.
Your donation will help us defend The Safety and Saving Act and ensure better outcomes for people convicted of crime, crime survivors, and the families of both.
We will keep you updated and informed as we learn more. In the meantime, if you have questions or want more information, we encourage you to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for standing with us.
