Join us for a community briefing by advocates in Oregon who have been working with key legislators to advance a critical policy reform that will make all of our communities safer.
–
The briefing will be led by members of the Transforming Justice Coalition, a group of Oregonians impacted by violence and the criminal justice system who developed the Transforming Justice 2022 bill.

Transforming Justice 2022 will:
- Reduce unnecessary police stops by making a single headlight, tail light, or brake light a “secondary offense,” meaning that an officer can issue a citation only if a driver is pulled over for something else
- Improve success for people on probation and parole with a process that lets more people on supervision report remotely and reduces when parole and probation officers can visit people at their work
- Address racial disparities in the criminal justice system, promote racial equity, and reduce prison use by creating the Justice Reinvestment Equity Program
Developed by Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other Oregonians of color who have been impacted by violence and the system, the bill will reshape state policies to meaningfully transform our approach to public safety.
