Oregon Domestic and Sexual Violence Services Fund (ODSVS) Postcard Campaign Report

The 2007 legislative postcard campaign was an enormous success!

As a result of the countless phone calls, personal visits, emails, and 2,200 postcards from every corner of Oregon, representing 87 communities and six prisons, the ODSVS fund was increased to $4.5 million for the ’07-’09 budget, almost double the amount from the ’05-’07 budget.

On Friday, June 1st, Sybil Hebb from the Oregon Law Center, Patty Katz, and Terrie Quinteros from Partnership for Safety and Justice, delivered 2,200 postcards to the Co-Chairs of the Ways and Means Committee, Senator Kurt Schrader and Representative Mary Nolan. They also delivered thank you cards to the members of the Public Safety Subcommittee of Ways and Means, with a special visit to Representative Chip Shields, to thank him for his support. Without Representative Shields’ help we would not have been as successful.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this very important campaign!
