Protecting the Future of Oregon's Youth

Partnership for Safety and Justice believes public safety is best served by promoting policies that rely on youth going through juvenile court rather than the adult criminal court system. Research on adolescent brain development seriously questions the wisdom of treating youth as adults in the criminal justice system. Research also shows that sending youth to the adult system actually makes it more likely they will re-offend. So what should Oregon do about our draconian policies that treat youth as adults in the Oregon criminal justice system?
