Reentry Council Announced by Governor

A special council on reentry issues has been ordered by Governor Ted Kulongoski. The executive order creating the council will soon be signed by the Governor, but its formation was announced at a recent meeting of DOC staff and community corrections providers.

While specific details of who will be on the task force are still being discussed, its creation signals a much greater awareness of the need to successfully reintegrate people back into their communities. Issues to be discussed include housing, employment and other barriers people face when returning to their communities following incarceration.
