Safety and Sentencing Prison Program Crime Survivors for Community Safety Beyond Barriers

Crime Survivors for Community Safety: Our Values

Safety: We work to prevent crime and violence.

Accountability: We believe responsibility must be taken for the personal and institutional actions and choices that cause harm to others, including appropriate restitution.

Redemption: We know that people are able to transform themselves and in turn be a positive influence in their community. This knowledge allows us to recognize the humanity in everyone and to treat people with dignity.

Justice: We work for what is fair and healing for everyone involved in an act of violence or crime.

Truth: When we are allowed and able to hear the entire truth of a story we are then able to recognize the places where our current systems fail to provide public safety.

Healing: Everyone affected by an act of violence or crime needs to heal from the experience in order to continue their lives in peace. We work to help refocus our systems to allow this to be possible.

This document is part of a larger framework intended to inform our work based on an analysis by progressive survivors of violence and crime.
